Re: WHO Traditions that seem to have gone out of fashion
WHO is a bit like WHUFC itself.

People always pining for the good old days but people change naturally and if you cater to one type of person, eventually time eliminates those good old posters/supporters and you have nothing.

That said, one of the great things about WHO is that you can still say almost whatever you want (unlike a lot of the internet these days) and let an argument be the response.

People get upset about all the politics but truly frank conversations in that area can get you in trouble a lot of places and WHO stands as pretty rare in allowing it.

As I said great to see, I disagree with a whole lot of it but it is important to have forums like that.

So all taken together it is a bit of a catch 22.

"Also recall Smithy in his young flourish posting about how a bogey resembling a cabbage had fallen - pell mell - from his nose. "

That was young woody.

An anon posting as "train man" said "you had cabbages falling from your nose" on the "I was on the train" thread.

Young woody is now about 30 and 6'7". That'll make you feel old.

Whufcroe still posts and has done ever since.

Bailey has posted under various names since those days too

Bill Sydney Oz was a very strange bloke.

To be honest it makes me laugh when people say WHO is full of childish bitching these days; it literally always has been and used to be far "worse", especially when there were far more posters.

Geeder - now theres a throwback!
Nice words Peckham. Sweet mammaries, of days long past and now lost to time like twigs broken from a branch by a squirrel.

Also recall Smithy in his young flourish posting about how a bogey resembling a cabbage had fallen - pell mell - from his nose.

Recall Tynan steadfastly refusing to agree with anyone..

Recall Bailey being psychotic.

Remember fondly David Attenborough posting about how he had fallen in love with a Pelican. Recall his brother Dicky defending him when we all said he was a Pelican abuser.

Recall a barney with Nagel - arranging to meet someone in the Counting House for a row and actually going there, intent on mischief.. Calling out their name - and finding no one there - before having several ales then going to the light bar where i was later assaulted by the croatian doorman who had murder in his eyes and tore the pocket off my whistle

Eloquently put and spot on Alfie.
Never met GeeDee or know him but this rant although minor made me smile.
Remembered it word for word. Fuck knows why.The Father Christmas bit made me chuckle. Can't remember who was ranting.
"Geedee is a complete fucking cunt and no mistake.
and so is his Father Christmas lookalike dad,
he thinks he's really in the know about all things West ham, when really he's a sad fucker whose dad got beaten up at Upton park tube for looking like Ken Bates.
He then left a whiny message on Terry Browns answer machine bleating about it.
The pair of them used to sit near me in the West Upper and are always blathering on about something or other being shit. Ungrateful pair of cunts.
When the big tall bald freaky speccy gangly cunt isn't running up and down the aisles like a spastic sticking his telephoto lens in some cunts face he's coating off Yossi Benayoun."

Must have been posted about 2005.

The WHO Clock timeless, so easy to fix , but wouldn't be WHO if put right.

Have to doff my cap to Defjam as well, for sorting tickets a few times on the odd occasion coming over from Madrid, helping me get through a shit time, along with Flying V, his mates from his town who he goes to games with, one has been the funniest fella I have ever met and the other gave me a job, unfortunately they don't post.

Also Uncle Gank will solve your problems. The what the fuck has this to do with West Ham for the past 10 years and his ban for being a horrible cunt on his own admission.

4:34 Sat Feb 20 2016 is when WHO lost a lot of its charm and good humour, when every cunt became serious, opinionated and argumentative about Politics.

Alans daily news is gratefully received by all ex pats I reckon, the box-set thread is handy and loads have recommended some pukka documentaries and series.

Apologies for diverting from OP.

Things i miss

- music threads

- who being a thriving and vibrant hub of discourse - opinion and comedy where every day threads would pulse with posts and go off the front page in a single day - such was the volume of users. It seems to have become - during the day - a semi decommisioned outlet for old original posters now in their 40s trying to outdo one another with banterish in jokes that plumb the lowest modes of discourse such as declaiming their mate as piss smelling or a ' fat sweaty mess ' ( the true rejoinder of the dullard).

The witty and inventive posters of old have done all their best injective and repartee over these long 20 years, and now float about like the old firm, watching in, waiting for something like the days of old - occasionally chiming in.

-i miss going on who daily to get a gauge on the reaction to that days news - most of which would be being debated - often comically. I miss it being a weathervane. Something that often made me question my own view.

- Justin R becoming very aggressive after being called for writing on the 'turn on the television' 9 - 11 thread ' words to the effect of 'the british army will perish in the hindu kush as they have always done in history' and then being accused of having read too many war magazines.

- whufccroe arguing and being contrary with every single other poster then being set up by a NOTW connected Whoer for a sexual deviancy outing. He was a silly / deviant boy but his passion was missed.

- AMOCS being his usual professional contrarian / provocateur self & putting up a thread along the lines of ' do you feel less sympathy for them because theyre wearing man utd shirts' about two murdered little girls.

- alf ghandi threatening people with a mighty fisting. The reaction.

- dildo the lion winding people up.

- 2bob / who wars. Grown chaps arguing about who did the wittiest postings on the interney

- anons deploying their most ardent bitchy slatings safe in the anonymity of anonymity - back when anons could post

- refreshing the page every 30 seconds & knowing there would be 3 or 4 new posts to read

- the eternal fucked up ness of the who clock

- whos many journalists cat fighting about which paper was shittest / most hackneyed - sun - mir - notw - mail - torygraph - pravda / grauniad etc: enjoying the real cattiness of their wordage of one another. Realising lots of it was piss soaked - & all the better for it

- alex v revelling in posting provocations and statements guaranteed to elicit lots of froth and come backs. Admiring his energy yet often questioning his narrative thread.

- posts reminiscing about old school rave business.

- posts recounting old rucks up west ham / away.

- defjam getting me into the vip in fabric a few times. Top man.

- as painful as its been - watching our history and the change from working class club to business unfold online. Realising what weve lost and reading other proper peoples feelings

- realising there are hundreds of different and sometimes opposing views on virtually every subject. Genuinely realising that not everyone - even other ' west ham' dont think in the same way or manner as i do. Realising wider life is the same

- reAlising a few years ago that the hundreds of words put on here would never be on permanent record - and that as a result the sheer volume of time spent could no longer be justified, or ever got back. Then scaling back radically.

- realising that some people are just fucking arseholes, and despite the effort to point out to them- dont realise - because true cunts in life never realise they are.

- realising above all that WHO was a very therapeutic outlet for all these years. Realising my participation in it spanned the birth and early flowering of the internet - into the age where its worth - regulatory freedom and legacy began to be questioned.

WHO knows whats next...

Leonard - sounds very much like Keith Chegwin. He was big on the schnauser back then & would often rant at west ham football website patrons in language that was absolutely vile and almost scottish in its coarseness

Re: WHO Traditions that seem to have gone out of fashion
I miss Fordster and his irrational hatred/jealousy of Noble.
I hear he's fucking hated by other black cab drivers. Always doing the dirty at Paddington Stn and picking up at the drop off. He actually tried to fight a female black cab driver who blocked him in when she saw what he was doing.
Even laughs as he picks up fares around Whitehall whilst the other drivers are protesting!
Drives a brand new £65k white electric cab now so must be doing ok but has put on about 5 stone when I saw him on the rank at London Bridge.

Re: WHO Traditions that seem to have gone out of fashion
About 12 years ago some bloke off here got my phone number (I must've put it on a spare ticket thread or summat) and left me a voicemail message, pissed, in a noisy pub, of a load of WHO-esque abuse and BLUE LANGUAGE. In a funny way though, not menacing.
About a week later I was pissed up one night and rang him back and said "who the fuck are you?". He was in a noisy pub again, wouldn't tell me who he was, and we ended up shouting "cunt" at each other until we were both.almost pissing ourselves laughing and hung up.
We had similar chats a couple of times a month for about 6 months, always nothing other than shouting drunken abuse at each other.
To this day I don't know who it was.

I'm sure someone on here found that the term "zoltaneering" was used quite often on a few other totally unrelated forums.
